Great service! Food was cooked in a timely manner. Portions are good! Ordered for 7 all food was well prepared. Will visit again when we're in Duluth again!

This place is unusual in that it serves both Vietnamese and Chinese food. I am a huge Pho fan, and when I saw this on YELP, I had to try it. There aren't many Vietnamese restaurants in the north as there are from where I live on the west coast. The service was very good. The buffet looked like most Chinese buffets. I ordered the Pho, like others have said, the broth was a bit weak, but still good. The accompanying "goody" plate with bean sprouts, jalapeno peppers and basil was a bit sparse compared to what I am used to getting. I would reccommend this place to anyone who needs a Pho fix!

Came to Two Harbors one time on Duluth's North Shore Scenic Railroad. My wife and I decided to stop to have lunch before heading back. It was either Blackwood's or Vietnamese Lantern. We decided to give this place a go. This place is located inside somewhat of a shopping area. We didn't find out until after using the restroom. The restaurant is of a decent size but only one side was filled up at that time. It's pretty dim inside. The booths were old and needed updating. There's also the typical paper placemats with the Chinese horoscopes to read. The buffet was probably the smallest selection we've ever seen. The flavor was okay and there were only a couple items we actually truly enjoyed as we went back for seconds. As for the restrooms, you have to exit out into the super small yet dead shopping area side, then walk to the end of the building, turn right and the restrooms were to your right. The restrooms were old, dirty, cramped and the door didn't close due to not being aligned correctly. My wife thought it was pretty creepy. The good thing is that they use real plates versus plastic and the food is fresh since there's not much to select from so they're always refilling the food.

We love it there. Chef is always willing to make adjustments. Very kind people. The Chinese egg rolls are "wow". New owners made it better than ever. Potstickers, Crab Rangoon, chicken wings and as I mentioned egg rolls. The fried rice and sweet and sour dinner are the top. Generous portions. Can't say enough good things.

2.5 STARS Food was ok. Would I go back? Maybe. But there are better options nearby. My hubby wanted to eat there and since it was our anniversary I obliged because I love him like that. The service was good and it was pretty empty in there. The only thing they forget to mention was the free entertainment. there was an interesting little old guy walking around tell us the entire history of his life and Two Harbors. It definitely made for an interesting experience.

Its a Chinese restaurant in upper North (Lake Superior) shore and operated by Vietnamese persons. Definitely thankful that they serve Pho here. Thank god. Kind or weird how this place is Chinese, but have Vietnamese in their name? Just don't get that one. In an daunting effort to have Pho in all 50 States, my travels came up here to Two Harbors, MN after a disappointing Pho session in downtown Duluth, so I came here for redemption. Thanks to yelp, as always, for finding anything and everything I needed - especially Vietnamese cuisine in upstate Minnesota, of all places! It was a real treat to come here after a challenging Grandma's marathon on a foggy, cold day (June 21, 2014). Surprising it was that cold. The reward of such an epic journey had been ice cream and Pho, my top favorite foods to indulge. And so, here I was checking out Two Harbors with my marathon finisher medal around my neck for an afternoon and having Pho too. A perfect day, if you asked anyone. :) The experience was just like any other Vietnamese place. I like the simple stuff that many people think it's not really good. The decor of the place was not fancy, but it was nice and homely to be sure. Vietnamese Lantern restaurant is located on 627 7th Avenue in Two Harbors, MN. Parking is limited on the street, but they do have a small parking lot for patrons. Vietnamese Lantern restaurant accepts credit cards, so that's always awesome. The prices here are on par with the many other Vietnamese restaurants I have visited through the country. Good Pho can be found here. I arrived here around 4pm and found the restaurant to be quite empty. More room for me, I suppose. I was greeted friendly and was escorted to a table near the front of the restaurant. The restaurant is of medium size and quite clean too. They have a buffet, like most Chinese restaurants, which do buffets, but I opt for the Pho. Sort of Asian Fusion, this place is, but it is what it is. The service is good regardless, and friendly. I got my water instantly and was shown the menu. It never fails how great it is to look at different variations of Pho, rather than just "soup" on a Chinese restaurant's menu. *ahem* I received the combination Pho with an order of egg rolls, which was very nice. The soothing aroma of the broth was quite nice, when in the 8 hours before, I was here running 26.2 miles towards Duluth from Two Harbors. I ordered extra noodles and even extra bean sprouts. Yes sir, it was definitely a party. I opted for just water and nothing else, although springing for a dessert item was really tempting. I decided after leaving to get ice cream at a local McDonald's to seal the deal. The Pho broth seemed to be watered down a bit, but I didn't mind. The mixture of all the ingredients seemed to gel all at once. The bean sprouts had extra snap in them, so it was a pleasure having them after a long and challenging day. The service was good, especially when the service is slow on a Saturday afternoon. It was a simple meal, but yet a fancy one for me, as it was a meal and a reward for me. I would definitely recommend Vietnamese Lantern restaurant for good Pho. I know they have other good options here, but I just went for the Pho. Its great to be able to knock off MN for the marathon and Pho during the same trip. Gotta eat, right? ;) Support local! B

I hadn't eaten at this establishment for quite a few years. Mainly because the former owners had lost their enthusiasm for the food they were serving. As of April 5th 2013 this place changed hands and now the food and the service is amazing! The first dish I ordered was their Beef Curry. Normally I prefer red curries over the standard yellow curry most places serve. But this was phenomenal! Their Vietnamese egg rolls are great as well. I have had a number of their entrees and have yet to be disappointed. The only items I have taken issue with are their soups. The Hot & Sour is neither spicy nor sour, but they are serving up food in an area where Scandinavian sensibilities are deeply ingrained (most people here can't take anything more than salt & pepper in their food). I have eaten at some of the most highly recommended Vietnamese/Thai/Chinese restaurants in the USA, and the Vietnamese Lantern has nothing to be ashamed of. I eat there as often as I can, so often the owners start setting me up with fish & Rooster sauce (Sriracha) the moment they see me walk in. My hope for them is that they are able to overcome the bad name the place got while the former owners were busy driving it into the ground.
